CAMPING

Saskatchewan's natural beauty and clean air make camping in a provincial park a refreshing experience.  Saskatchewan's 34 provincial parks and recreation sites offer a wide range of camping experiences to choose from.  All of our primary campgrounds offer service centres with free bathroom and shower facilities and most offer laundry facilities and playground areas.  Fresh drinking water, fire pits, fire wood and picnic tables are available at all provincial parks.

To help you plan your vacation, new in 2012, all nightly campsites within Saskatchewan’s provincial parks are available for either reservation or walk-up registrations.  If you choose not to, or are unable to, book in advance, you can check site availability online, prior to your departure.

There are 24 parks that accept advance bookings, including five parks added this year: Anglin Lake, BlackstrapBronson Forest, Chitek Lake and Narrow Hills.

Most Saskatchewan provincial parks offer full service, electric or non-electric campsites - most with access to a service centre.  Group, seasonal, and non-serviced sites are also available in most parks.

Maximum Length of Stay

Starting in 2012, there will be an expansion of the 14-night, maximum stay program during the peak period of June 24 to the September long weekend in most provincial park and recreation sites.

The number of parks and recreation sites and the number of campsites included in the maximum-stay program has increased, including the addition of six parks to the program: Anglin Lake, BlackstrapBronson Forest, Chitek Lake, Crooked Lake and Narrow Hills

The following parks are included in the maximum stay program (a complete list of campsites included in the maximum stay program is available on each park’s camping page):

This program accommodates the high demand for electric campsites and provides more campers with an opportunity to camp in a Saskatchewan provincial park.  System wide, approximately 40 per cent of all nightly campsites will be designated as maximum stay, which will ensure that there are still a number of nightly campsites available for extended stays.

To ensure there is turnover in each of the designated maximum-stay campsites, no person or persons from the same address or household can hold back to back reservations in one site if it is designated maximum stay.  Registered campers who have reached their 14-night maximum stay may register in any other available site after the initial 14-night stay.

Camper Registration

When you check-in to camp at any Saskatchewan provincial park you will be asked to produce a valid drivers licence.  This is simply a means to verify residency and enter a camper's correct address and contact information.  It also provides assurance that the campsite is being released to the correct guest.  This applies to all campers, including first come, first served and those who previously reserved a site through the Reserve-a-Site Program.

Campers who are unable to provide a valid drivers licence, either because they do not have one or have not brought it with them, can provide another piece of valid identification.
