Things To Do
The Battlefords Park hugs the shores of Jackfish Lake, a shallow wfater body that sits amid gently rolling plains created 10,000 years ago by retreating glaciers. You can enjoy a little sun-and-splash on the beach or assemble the gang for some fun at the horseshoe pitch, beach volleyball courts or the miniature golf facility.
Water Recreation
Jackfish Lake offers a wide range of water activities.
Swimming
The park offers a large beach area for swimming. The main beach area also offers a large cultured grass area for recreational activities.
Fishing
Jackfish Lake contains pike, walleye, perch and whitefish. A commercial net fishery for whitefish takes place each winter. Boat rentals and fishing equipment are all available from Beachside Boat Rentals located on the main beach.
Hiking
Cacti and Cranberries Interpretive Trail
This self-guided nature trail, located near Robinson Bay, takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. There is a great view of Jackfish Lake from on top of a large hill on the trail.
Lakeside Trail
This 1.5km trail follows the edge of the Jackfish Lodge golf course, connecting up at the west edge of South Campground, capturing a scenic view of Jackfish Lake.
Cycling
Mountain Bike Trail
This 4km, challenging grass trail features rest areas along the way.
Golf
Jackfish Lodge Golf & Convention Centre: this 18-hole, grass-green golf course, is located adjacent to Jackfish Lake. Beautiful, scenic and challenging course. Men’s par is 71 and Women’s par is 73. Mini-Golf
Lakeshore Mini-Golf: this 18-hole course is situated near the main beach. Phone (306) 386-2860.f
Picnic Area
The Picnic Pavilion: located by main beach. This facility is a three-winged shelter with a large barbecue designed for briquettes, but wood can be used. Water tap and power outlets are also provided. No alcohol is allowed in this facility. To reserve the Pavilion, contact the park administration office at 386-2212. There is no charge for the use of this facility.
